Quality checking your products prior to shipment provides you with peace of mind.

Your brands reputation lies solely on your ability to deliver high quality products, on time, without minor production errors leaving you at a financial loss.

In an effort to save money, many business owners choose to bypass a final Quality Inspection prior to shipment. Instead, they run the risk of quality checking product when it arrives to them. At this stage it is too late to make any changes or request a refund for any defects, proving to be more costly in the long run.

Here are some important things to consider when making the decision whether or not to invest in a Quality Inspection:

  • Full payment is required by the factory, prior to shipment of finished goods to you (with or without a Quality Inspection). All factories are strict with this policy and will not ship goods until payment is received in full.
  • If you forgo Quality Inspections in China, upon receiving the goods and carrying out your own quality inspections (In Australia) it is nearly impossible to request a refund for products you can not sell due to defects.
So you have just paid for product, freight, customs etc for items that you can not sell. This loss incurred by you is not the responsibility of the manufacturer.
  • Most Chinese manufacturers don’t understand that if you get substandard quality you will not be able to sell your goods. Their job isn’t to understand the intended use of your product, and all the little things that seem obvious to you.

There are no guarantees with the quality finish of your product and you may find yourself in a situation where you’re only able to sell 50% of it due to defects.
Carrying out a Quality Inspection prior to shipment gives the Factory an opportunity to fix any defects or a reduction in price of your final balance.

  • Quality Inspections are part of your best practice model. Chinese Factories expect this, so don’t feel bad when requesting a Quality Inspection of your product. This isn’t offensive to the manufacturer and it doesn’t mean that you don’t trust their craftsmanship. It means that you care about the quality standard of your product and you will be taken more seriously.
  • Include in your contract with the Factory, a Quality Inspection. This will not only keep pressure on the factory to catch quality issues throughout production, it will also allow them to allocate time for any amendments with your order. Don’t forget they have thousands of other orders to fulfil simultaneously and need to plan accordingly.

If there is no Quality Inspection scheduled, the factory will tend to go for the easiest and cheapest solution, in an attempt to finish the order quicker and move on to the next order.
